Volunteers Make a Difference

The Best Shelter is ...
a Humane Community

Here at MHS, we think that volunteering should be a fun and life-changing experience. We invite volunteers with varied interests and talents to to join with us in our quest for a truly humane community.

The shelter relies of the support of volunteers in many ways. Not only spending time with the animals, but reaching out into the community, education, donations and a wide variety of creative ideas. Please review the following information to learn more about becoming a volunteer at the Monadnock Humane Society.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to participate. Children between the ages of 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please note that some positions have an age requirement of 18 years.

There are several steps in the application process. Some opportunities require a minimum time service committment.
Step 1: Acquire and complete a volunteer application. This can be done by coming into the Monadnock Humane Society Tuesday - Saturday 12pm–6pm, or by having one mailed to you by calling Mary at 603/352-9011 ext. 115 and clearly leaving your name, address and telephone number.
Step 2: Attend a volunteer general orientation meeting. Please register by calling Maggie Nijander-Brock at 603/352-9011 ext. 147
Step 3:
Sign up for your one to one interview with the volunteer coordinator.
Step 4: Department Training-training periods vary depending on volunteer positions.
Step 5: Additional training as necessary

To Receive an application, or if you have questions, please e-mail our volunteer department at maggie@humanecommunity.org or call Maggie Nijander-Brock at 603-352-9011 ext. 147.
